Pruning branches From January to March I prune branches . After the pruning, the left branches are exposed to the light in the sun and pruning branches improves it's ventilation. Pruning branches is the very important work which decides the growth of the apple in the year. So it is difficult work even for expert farmers who makes apples for many years. There are more than 1000 trees in the KAWAI FRUITS Orchard and I do them alone. the flower blooms From the last five days in April to in the beginning of May, flowers bloom.Then We have to pick most of flowers off. And after pollinate, We pick most of small fruits off. Naturly,more than 3000 fruits are produced on a tree. It is so much numbers that each apple could not take enough nourishment and could not become bigger. So We have to reduce a number to 120. It means almost 1/30. We do this work from May to July I am almost free. From the last ten days in July to the former half of August I am almost free. I spend this period in reading or traveling somewhere.This is most enjoyable time for me. I watch the condition of the weather and sometimes I give water for trees. Preparation for harvest In the last ten days in August We prepare for the harvest . There are two preparation for harvest.We have to pick leaves off and we have to turn apples 。 After these two works the part of apple which was shaded is exposed to the light in the sun . In the sun lights apples become sweet and beautiful . That is why we do these two works. The consumer loves it's taste and the consumer in Japan also loves it's color. The harvest time September to December, the harvest time. "TSUGARU"is a typical apple in the early autumn(September).The sweetness is a characteristic. After a harvest of "TSUGARU",We prepare for the harvest of"JONAGOLD". "JONAGOLD" is a large sized fruit, maturing in the middle of October.It is a little sour apple After a harvest of "JONAGOLD",in the middle of October we prepare for the harvest of "FUJI" and we start harvest in November."FUJI" is the most popular apple in Japan. I love "FUJI".
