Who am I

Location

"HATA" town which I live in is located in the west of MATSUMOTO CITY in NAGANO prefecture. (In NAGANO prefecture the next winter Olympic game will be held.) I care more than 1200 apple trees.

Good taste

HATA is the land which suited apple growing. In HATA the difference between temperature at noon and temperature at night is big. Generally, in the big difference of temperature, the fruit tightens up and becomes good taste

Safe

I try to cultivate apples with the reducing agricultural chemicals.
Now I reduce 30 percent of spraying quantity of the chemicals than the area average. And I always challenge to reduce chemicals. For example, last year I challenged the use of the pheromone trap. It is because The safe food is good for the body. Japanese consumer is looking for the safe food.

to keep quality

I scatter calcium (broken shell) on the orchard in the summer. It makes fruits taste good,I think.
I harvest well matured apples and I send them immediately to the customer. Therefore, apples are fresh.
To keep the quality, I limit an sales number by the reservation sale.(Domestic only)

Who am I ?

My major in the university was computer science. After college I worked for publishing company as a staff editor for a few years until I returned to the farm in 1989. Currently I am producing 1.2ha of apple. Is it small ? It is the average size in Japan.
The agriculture is the difficult work which is influenced by the the weather and the climate. In these 3 or 4 years I struggled against the natural disaster, hail, dryness, the damage from cold weather and so on . I feel the great Nature which can not resist.
But when the season of the harvest, the good apple grow, I become full of the gratitude to the nature. The sun and rain and natural mercy are concentrated into the small fruit, the apple. It is the greatest gift from Nature.
