Comment : The Memorial Tribute Performance for Hortense Kooluris (Dolan) (Sept. 22, 1914-Feb. 8, 2007) will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Tronto, Canada on Oct. 1, 2007 at 8:00P.M. Adrienne Ramm, Gemze de Lappe, Paul-James Dwyer, and Reiko Morita will perform in the memorial.

Duncan Festival 2008 will be held from May 26 to 28, 2008 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The Julia Levien Memorial Tribute is going to be held by The Julia Levien Memorial Tribute Committe, consists of Lori Belilove, Jeanne Bresciani, Mark Fiedler, Catherine Gallant, Beth Jucovy, Judith Landon, Adrienne Ramm, Shirley Romaine, Cherlyn Smith, and Mark Trider, on June 23, 2007 at the 92nd Street Buttenwieser Hall in New York City (Revised on July 31, 2007).

Comment : An American third-generation Duncan dancer and teacher, Hortense Kooluris (Dolan) (Sept. 22, 1914- Feb. 8, 2007) passed away in Florida on Feb. 8th.
Ms. Kooluris made a lifelong commitment to Isadora Duncan Dance. Ms. Kooluris studied with Anita Zahn and Erna Lane from the Elizabeth Duncan School when she was young. Ms. Kooluris joined Irma Duncan's Isadora Duncan Dancers from 1930 to 1933. Ms. Kooluris performed with Irma, Anna, and Maria-Theresa Duncan, Sylvia Gold, Gemze De Lappe, Julie Levien, Mignon Garland, etc. Ms. Kooluris established Contemporary Duncan Dancers and Isadora Duncan Centenary Dance Company with Julie Levien and taught many today’s Duncan Dance dancers and teachers such as Jeanne Bresciani, Kathleen Quinlan, Roberta Hoffman, Barbara Kane, Lori Belilove, Mary Sano, and Reiko Morita. May her soul rest in peace.

Dr. Nahumck, former Dean of the School of Dance at the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, passed away at the age of 98 on April 23, 2006. She was a student of Riva Hoffman and Anna and Irma Duncan. Dr. Nahumck described Duncan Dance repertories with a dance notation system Labanotation and published Isadora Duncan: The Dances Choreographed in Labanotation in 1994.

Comment : A third-generation Duncan Dancer, Julia Levien passed away at her home on Roosevelt Island on Sept. 3rd. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday on October 9th. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 8th at 9:45 AM at the Riverside-Nassau North Chapels. 55 North Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY 11021 TEL: 516-487-9600
Ms. Levien made her professional debut with Anna Duncan and joined the tour of the Moscow Duncan Dance Company, conducted by Irma Duncan. Ms. Levien formed the Contemporary Duncan Dancers with Ms. Mignon Garland and Ms. Hortense Kooluris in the 1940s and taught Duncan Dance in London, Paris, and USA..
