Ringo takes main vocal of this song after a long time. The used chords are normal such as G, D, C, Em, Am, CM7, also constructed only by the verse and the chorus, so it is very simple song. However, this song has an unique taste in itself. The friendly vocal phrase and the movement of the triple harmony in the chorus make us know again that we can compose real cool song based on not only musical theory but also feelings. They express the inside of submarine skillfully by using effected sound at the 2nd block verse or solo, and this is jolly song because it starts actually brass band to play after vocal " And the band begins to play".

Composed by George. The organ sound in the introduction is characteristic. However, there are many noisy sound by ad-lib phrase with trumpet or glocken, so they are offensive to the ear. Moreover, rhythm is also very complex because 2/4 or 6/8 time signature is used. Especially, the drum phrase in the introduction seems to be out of beat at the beginning of the verse. They often use such this trick that confuses you with feeling out of beat. This trick is used at the introduction of I Want To Hold Your Hand in their early times. The structure of this song is not so complex, but this song is much psychedelic, so it is more difficult to appreciate that.

It is indeed cheerful song. The used chord is the three chord of G major, the structure of this song is made by only verse and chorus. So this is very simple and is the song that has a lot of fun and human groove. However, you can find that many instruments are used with listening carefully. There are not only harmonica but also horn, triangle, and so on. The image that sings and performs cheerfully by many people may be featured. And the rhythm trick is also used in this introduction. The guitar stroke begins at the 4th beat in the measure, so you feel out of beat at the beginning of the verse. This song is simple but has an intellectual method behind the rhythm, so it is very cool performance.

This is a real rock 'n' roll music. The piano phrase with half-tone up and half-tone down in the introduction are very rhythmic and very cool. This song has also nice chord progression. The phrase in the introduction is on the key of B minor, but vocal phrase from the verse is temporarily on the key of B major. The chord progression in the verse is B->F#m->B->F#m->A->F#m-E->E7, so the chord of F#m and A are used effectively. And the coolest part should be the chord progression in the chorus. It has Bm->Bm+5->Bm6->Bm7, and its internal voice goes up by half-tone from F#. Such a this pattern is used in the latter half of the chorus from the chord Em. The guitar solo is catchy phrase, and has its own original sound harmonized with vocal line. At last, they have a chat and mimic barking dogs in the ending, it seems that they have enjoyed themselves with this song.

Composed by George. The feedback sound of his guitar sounds explodes suddenly, then it is veiled in the grave organ sound. This is a shocking introduction. The trumpet phrases are also used here and there just like Only A Northern Song, but the phrases in this song may be better than that one. Only chord G and C are used, and the song structure is also simple, but the sound is very psychedelic. This takes six minutes and thirty seconds, and is long song, however it repeats "Too much" so many times at the last one minute and thirty seconds. In the ending, Paul harmonizes with George's vocal "Too much" in his wild voice, it is a little bit fun.

The brass sound with the introduction of the national anthem of French is impressive. A complex musical method is not used, but the vocal phrase by singing like talking should be characteristic. The measure of 3/4 time signature is used in this 4/4 song here and there, so it gives song a moderate tension. The main feature of this song should be the arrangement of brass and strings, and also be triple harmonized vocal in the verse "Love, love, love...". To listen very carefully, you can find so many other song's phrases in the ending such as In The Mood, Green Sleeves, She Loves You, and so on.

*I do not write my comments for the other side of this album because those are not the Beatles original songs but orchestral songs that are composed or arranged by George Martin.
